Snorkeler, 58, dies off Makapu'u

A 58-year-old man died after being pulled unconscious from waters just off the Makai Pier in Makapu'u.

Police said the man was part of a snorkeling tour and was found face down in the water at about 10 a.m.

Emergency personnel performed CPR, police said. The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they did not suspect foul play.

An autopsy will be done.



Man charged in Kahuku stabbing

A 29-year-old man was charged yesterday with second-degree assault in connection with a stabbing Friday night in Kahuku.

Travis Ezra Burnett is accused of stabbing another man, 19, in the arm during an argument over a woman, police said.

Burnett's bail is $50,000.
