Kono falls 7 strokes behind in Junior PGA

Punahou School freshman Stephanie Kono of Honolulu shot a 2-over-par 73 and fell seven shots off the pace in the 2004 Westfield Junior PGA Championship at Westfield Center, Ohio.

Kono has a 54-hole total of 218 and is tied with Jennie Lee of Huntington Beach, Calif., who shot 71.

Angela Park of Torrance, Calif., shot a record-tying 5-under 66 to take the lead in the girls' division with a 211 total. Six shots back and alone in second place is Mina Harigae of Monterey, Calif., who shot a 72 for 217.

Kelly Nakashima of Wailuku, Maui, shot 73 for 232.

In the boys' division, Daniel Woltman of Beaver Dam, Wis., grabbed the lead with a 6-under 65 for a 213 total.

Hilo's Jacob Low shot 78 and is at 230.

The Westfield Junior PGA Championship is The PGA of America's national championship for boys and girls ages 17 and younger.
