• Hawaiian Electric Co. promoted DAVE WALLER to vice president, customer solutions. Under his direction will be the Energy Services Department, of which he was most recently manager; and the divisions of Forecasting and Research, Marketing Services, Customer Technology Applications, and Integrated Resource Planning. Included in his responsibility is oversight of the popular residential solar water heating program.

LAURA KINO has been named to a newly created position at Maui Divers Jewelry overseeing the company's Internet marketing strategy. In her new position as e-commerce manager, Kino will also manage the Internet development team. The 30-year retail and travel sales and marketing veteran was in marketing/advertising for Roberts Hawaii Inc.; fine jewelry merchant for Liberty House; Crazy Shirts Inc. advertising and public relations director; Richfield Hotel Management corporate communications manager; and Westin Hotels & Resorts advertising manager.

• Hawaii Pacific Federal Credit Union has promoted PAIGE SATO to business and sales development manager. Sato will be responsible for expanding membership and community awareness of company products and services, branch management and marketing. She is, most recently, the firm's business development manager, and before that, assistant manager of collections at Norwest Financial (now Wells Fargo Financial). The firm has offices at Ala Moana and Pearlridge Center.

GARY KAHN, former information security officer at Bank of Hawaii, has been named to the same position in Territorial Savings Bank's Systems Department. Kahn holds certification as an information systems security professional and information security manager, and is immediate past president of the Information Systems Security Association, local chapter.

Also named at Territorial is new Kailua branch manager ANNE SEGAL. She is a former elementary school teacher and California account executive.

• Joining Finance Factors' Windward O'ahu Mortgage Center as senior loan officer is MICHAEL RAE BROWN. Brown has served as finance director for Valley Isle Motors; general manager for Old Navy, and most recently, as a loan officer for Charter Funding.

• Two appointments have been announced at A&B Properties Inc., the real estate development and management subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin Inc.:

  • SHARON A. THOM a veteran in the fields of engineering and construction management in Hawai'i since 1992, has been named project manager. Previously, she was operations engineer with General Growth Properties, owner of Ala Moana Shopping Center and the Victoria Ward Centers, overseeing construction management of renovation projects, and engineering and capital expenditure projects.
  • DIANE M. SHIGETA has been promoted to vice president, retaining primary responsibility for financial evaluation of acquisition, development and property management, and sales activity — as well as for development of strategic and operating plans. Shigeta first joined the parent company's corporate planning department in 1988, and A&B Properties in 1994 as manager for financial planning and analysis. In 2002, she was promoted to director, for financial planning and analysis.

• LISA F. MOHAMMED has been named U.S. group sales manager for the 455-room luxury hotel Halekulani. She is charged with securing new incentive, meeting and convention business, as well as corporate and leisure group clients, from the domestic U.S. market. The 10-year hotel sales professional most recently held the same position for the Honolulu-based Castle Resorts and Hotels, overseeing some 20 resort properties in Hawai'i, Micronesia and New Zealand. Before that, the Trinidad native was with Embassy Vacations Resorts in Honolulu, and Hotel Intercontinental in Miami, Fla.
