ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Standup comedy on tap at the Pipeline Cafe

Advertiser Staff and News Services

If laughter is the best medicine after another painful week of work, you can check out funny man Gabriel Iglesias tonight or tomorrow night at the Pipeline CafÚ. Iglesias is preceded on stage by fellow comedians Felipe Esparza, Armondo Cosio and Martin Moreno.

Sorry, kids. This is one for the 18-and-older crowd. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. See www.onstagehawaii.com for more information.

ON THE DOWNLOAD

The good guys — or at least the "legal" guys — are apparently winning the war on illegal downloading of music off the Internet.

Kevin Britten of Hays, Kan., recently downloaded "Somersault (Dangermouse remix)" by Zero 7, the 100 millionth song purchased from the iTunes music store. For his purchase, and timing, Britten won a 17-inch PowerBook, a 40GB iPod and a gift certificate for 10,000 iTunes songs to create the ultimate music library for his new iPod. Apple also awarded 50 20GB iPods — one to the purchaser of each 100,000th song downloaded between 95 million and 100 million songs.

FINAL WORD

Paul Dergarabedian
President of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations, on Will Smith and the success of his latest summer hit "I, Robot"

"He's Mr. July. He's the perfect summer action star. He's a guy who seems like somebody fun to hang out with, but ... the guy can kick some butt when he has to."
