Former University of Hawai'i football player Isa'ako Sopoaga and the San Francisco 49ers have reached agreement on a four-year contract worth at least $1.8 million.

Kenny Zuckerman, president of Priority Sports, said Sopoaga will receive a signing bonus of "just under a half-million dollars."

Zuckerman said the contract includes an escalator clause, meaning Sopoaga's annual base salary of about $330,000 could jump to $1.5 million in the fourth year depending on the defensive tackle's playing time in the first three seasons.

The contract also has incentives of up to $450,000 for sacks and forced fumbles.

"We wanted to get some incentives and a higher bonus in exchange for giving them a fourth year," Zuckerman said.

Sopoaga, who was the 49ers' fourth-round selection in the April draft, is visiting his parents' home in American Samoa and was not available for comment yesterday. The 49ers' training camp begins next week.

Priority Sports also represents defensive end Travis LaBoy and offensive linemen Olin Kreutz, Dominic Raiola and Wayne Hunter.

Zuckerman said LaBoy is expected to reach an agreement with the Tennessee Titans next week.
