Two editors join The Advertiser
Advertiser Staff
Two new editors have joined the staff of The Honolulu Advertiser.
Pizarro also had been the city editor of the Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville, Tenn., a team leader with the Shreveport (La.) Times as well as a reporter at that newspaper. Pizarro has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Louisiana State University in Shreveport and a bachelor's in physics from Centenary College of Louisiana.
For eight years, Aiken worked at the Daily Oklahoman in Oklahoma City as a staff writer, helping with coverage of the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City Murrah Federal Building. She has a bachelor's in journalism from the University of Oklahoma and has completed course work for a master's in journalism.
Fernando Pizarro began as city editor on July 19, leading the staff of local news reporters and editors. Pizarro came to Hawai'i after serving as regional editor for the Nashville Tennessean, where he led the paper's coverage of public safety, law enforcement and the courts.
Charolette Aiken
Charolette Aiken, formerly the business editor and part-time city editor of the Long Beach Press-Telegram, joined The Advertiser as deputy city editor on July 12. She is leading the paper's team of public safety and government reporters. Aiken had worked in Long Beach since 1999, where she supervised three business reporters. She spent two years with the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in Ontario, Calif., as an assistant business editor, assistant city editor and senior reporter.
