Big Isle teen gets $22,000 award

Jamie Nagao, a senior at Konawaena High School, has received a Cougar Freshman Academic Award, worth $22,000 over four years.

Nagao will study art at Washington State University.



Kahuku student a Toyota scholar

Natalie Kamauoha of La'ie has been named a Toyota Community Scholar. The Kahuku High School senior was one of 100 students from around the nation chosen from a pool of 10,000.



Roosevelt athlete gets Dean's award

Derek Shigano of Roosevelt High School is a recipient of the Dean's Scholarship from Concordia University in Portland, Ore.

He was awarded both an academic and athletic scholarship for excellence in baseball.



2 selected for Market City aid

The Market City Foundation has awarded scholarships to Eun Jung Lee of Kaimuki High School and Natasia De Silva of Kalani High School.

Lee plans to study journalism or business administration; De Silva will focus on economics and government.



Lions honor 4 from Leilehua

Four students from Leilehua High School have received scholarships from the Wahiawa Lions Club. They are: Leanne Jones, taking pre-veterinarian courses in college; Erika LaPuente, studying pre-pharmacy; Danielle Salantes, taking pre-med; and Todd Tomita, studying computer science.



Kane'ohe student going to Japan

Rachel Ing of Kane'ohe has received a Youth For Understanding scholarship that will enable her to live with a host family and study in Japan.



3 at Saint Louis win scholarships

Saint Louis School senior Ross Pascual and Saint Louis junior Brandon Low have received the Clarence T.C. Ching Scholar Award for academic excellence; it covers full tuition and the cost of books.

The recipient of the Gilliland Scholar Award for leadership, service and academic excellence is Ronan Arbitrario, also a Saint Louis junior.



Mililani student gets leader honor

Collin Wai Kong Siu of Mililani has received a Mike Harper Leadership Scholarship from the ConAgra Foods Foundation.
