"Ho'omaka Hou 2005," the Sheraton Waikiki's annual whoop-de-do, will assemble stellar local music faves such as The Makaha Sons, Robi Kahakalau, Kanilau and Halau Na Mamo O Ka'ala. This year's attraction includes an 'ukulele component with Herb Ohta Jr., the Opihi Pickers, and Kelly Boy DeLima with Pena Boy DeLima, with Kapena (the group) capping the evening. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole continues to be a favorite among Internet fans. At iTunes, Bruddah Iz's "Over the Rainbow" is on the Top 100 No. 73 recently, ahead of Jessica Simpson's "Take My Breath Away" (No. 81) and Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love" (No. 82). "He's been quite a success story, and it's sad that a lot of people didn't get to know who he was until he passed away," says Geoff Mayfield, director of charts and a senior analyst for Billboard. Army Community Theatre, on a roll with hot revivals of beloved musicals, launches its 2004-05 season with "West Side Story" in September.
