Actress wanted equal pay

 •  Life, career remain full after 'Sex'

Kim Cattrall is a selfish spoilsport. A killjoy diva. Her former "Sex and the City" colleagues would love to kill off the character of Samantha and just get on with plans for a feature version for the landmark cable series.

Whatever.

When Cattrall decided that turning down other projects while a "Sex" film was being developed wasn't in her best interest, HBO pulled the plug on the movie and stirred up a windstorm of gossip and acrimony. Her reps said she had to move on.

But what wasn't addressed were reports that Cattrall was asking for script approval and wanted to be paid the same fee as Sarah Jessica Parker, whose Carrie was the central character.

"Forget script approval," she says. "I wanted a script. The reason to do a movie was to tackle things that had not been done, which would have been difficult because we had done so much."

As for money, "I wanted all of us to really have a piece of something. We all worked for six years, 18 hours a day. I felt it would be a shame to come back and have to compromise financially, to not reward the actors who had so much to do with shaping the show."

Besides, "I've had a tremendous amount of support from people who felt it was too soon to talk about a movie. That's not to say it won't happen in the future."
