Woman arrested for identity theft

A 36-year-old Nanakuli woman was arrested yesterday on 19 counts of forgery, identity theft and theft.
She is accused of using stolen checks and a fake Hawai'i driver's license to defraud several businesses. Police said the thefts began as early as February and continued until yesterday.
Police said the woman stole checks belonging to businesses and residents from mailboxes and defrauded businesses including Office Depot and Macy's.
Collision victim named
A man who died after a car accident Monday afternoon on Puohala Road in Kane'ohe has been identified by the city medical examiner's office as Joseph R. Yoshioka, 19, of Emepela Way in Kane'ohe .
Traffic investigators have said Yoshioka was in the back seat of a 2003 Dodge Neon sedan that was speeding when it collided with a Toyota van and struck a utility pole.
Pedestrian hit by car dies
LIHU'E, Kaua'i An 80-year-old Lihu'e man died late Tuesday after he was hit by a car while crossing Kuhio Highway near Wilcox Hospital.
Police said Thomas Irwin was in a crosswalk near the 'Eha Street intersection shortly before 2 p.m. when he was struck by a car turning left from 'Eha Street in the Isenberg subdivision. He died later at Wilcox Hospital.
Hearing tonight on power line
The Public Utilities Commission will hear a proposal tonight by Hawaiian Electric Co. to relocate a 46-kilovolt power line to allow Castle & Cooke Homes Inc. grading work for an off-site drainage ditch in Mililani Mauka's north gully.
The 6:15 p.m. meeting at Mililani Mauka Elementary School's cafeteria will include public testimony.
HECO seeks PUC permission to move 1,000 circuit feet of subtransmission and distribution lines to an area southwest of Ukuwai Street, at the request of Castle & Cooke. The estimated cost of the relocation is $305,000.
