The two friends, visiting from Riverside, Calif., were in Hawai'i for 10 days of vacation. The city’s popular Brunch on the Beach drew a crowd last Sunday to Kalakaua Avenue by Kuhio Beach. The monthly event closes traffic on a portion of Kalakakau and turns it into an outdoor Hawaiian café, with free entertainment and 30 signature menu items cooked on site by top chefs in Waikiki.
