Travis LaBoy, a former University of Hawai'i defensive end, has reached an agreement on a four-year, $3.1 million contract with the Tennessee Titans.

"I'm very happy to get this over with," LaBoy said yesterday. "Everything went smoothly. Now I can focus on football."

Under terms of the deal, Laboy will receive $1.7 million in bonuses for signing the contract today and reporting to the team this weekend, said Kenny Zuckerman, president of Priority Sports. As in all standard NFL contracts, only the bonuses are guaranteed.

Zuckerman said LaBoy's annual base salary of $350,000 will increase if he meets performance goals. For example, LaBoy will receive an additional $100,000 for every year he is a starter. He also can earn up to another $500,000 if he leads the team in sacks or forced fumbles. If he meets all of his goals, Laboy will earn $4 million during the life of the contract.

LaBoy said he will use a portion of the money to launch the Travis LaBoy Foundation to benefit autistic children. LaBoy has registered the foundation as a nonprofit entity. Dave Patterson, a Hawai'i television producer, will run the Web site.

Zuckerman said his previous negotiations with Floyd Reese, the Titans' vice president/general manager, led to a quick settlement. "We know each other very well, and we don't play games," Zuckerman said.

Zuckerman also represents Hawai'i pros Wayne Hunter, Dominic Raiola, Makoa Freitas, Olin Kreutz and Isa'ako Sopoaga.
