Assault charged after grad partyAn 18-year-old Whitmore Village woman was charged last night with second-degree assault on suspicion of running into another woman with her car early yesterday.
Tehani Marie Ayau is being held in lieu of $11,000 bail in the incident, which was reported to be the culmination of a fight after a graduation party in Halawa Heights.
Ayau allegedly was involved in an argument with a 20-year-old woman. Police said that Ayau had left the graduation party near the intersection of Halawa Heights Road and Aiealani Place but later returned and that she was sitting in her car at around 4:10 a.m. when the victim confronted her.
Police said that after someone intervened to break up the fight, the victim walked away and that Ayau ran into her with the car and then fled.
The victim was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition yesterday but police gave no updated information on her condition today.
Ayau was arrested at her home at 6:15 a.m.
Waking victim finds burglar
A 27-year-old man was arrested yesterday after police said he fled from a Wilhelmina Rise home where he had awakened the homeowner in the midst of a burglary.
Police said the victim, a 67-year-old man, awoke at about 6:05 a.m. to find a burglar going through his property at the foot of his bed.
The burglar fled, and the victim called police, who found a man matching the description. Police arrested the suspect after the victim identified him and recovered the stolen items.
Attacker breaks down the door
Police arrested a man early yesterday on suspicion of breaking into a Waikiki apartment and assaulting a 33-year-old man.
The suspect, 20, allegedly broke down the door of a Namahana Street apartment and encountered the 25-year-old woman tenant and assaulted her boyfriend.
Police said the building manager flagged down a patrol officer, who said the suspect appeared intoxicated and punched the boyfriend while being arrested. The suspect is not related to either victim, police said.
Bank robber flees in truck
Police are looking for a man who fled in a white pickup truck after robbing City Bank's Kane'ohe branch at about 10 a.m. today.
The man is described as being in his late 20s or 30s, with an afro-style haircut and wearing a white T-shirt. Police said he is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds.
No weapon was seen during the holdup, police said.
An all-points bulletin was issued, in which the suspect was said to have fled in the truck on Kamehameha Highway, heading in the Honolulu direction.
