When the lights first appeared every morning, one man would loudly declare to everyone, "Welcome to the beautiful Leilehua Golf Course." Such announcements stopped years ago and the man behind them, Hawai'i Hall of Fame golfer BARRETT MELVIN, quietly passed away Monday morning at Wahiawa General Hospital. He was 86. See story.

A funeral service for GILBERT "ZULU" FRANCIS LANI KAUHI, a well-known entertainer who acted in "Hawai'i Five-0," will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday on the beach fronting the Waikiki Outrigger Hotel. See story.
