Key House votes
1. Appointing House replacements
The House on Wednesday defeated, 353-63, a proposed constitutional amendment that would have allowed governors to appoint replacement members of the House if large numbers of lawmakers died in a terrorist attack. A yea vote was to adopt the amendment.

2. Jobless benefits
The House on Thursday passed, 213-203, a bill to create "personal re-employment accounts" for jobless workers. A yea vote was to pass the bill.

Key Senate votes
1. National Guard and reserves health care
The Senate on Wednesday adopted, 70-25, an amendment to the defense authorization bill that would allow National Guard troops and reservists to enroll in the Pentagon's health care insurance plan. A yea vote was to approve the proposal.
