• First Hawaiian Bank Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Walter Dods Jr. has announced the promotion of DEBBIE PANG to vice president, treasury and investment division. A Kalani High School and University of Hawai'i graduate, she joined the bank in 1984 as an international officer. She has also held positions as investment officer and assistant vice president.

Other officer promotions include:

  • JEFFREY MURATA to branch manager, Princeville branch. A Kalani High School and University of Hawai'i graduate, he joined the bank in 1996 as a credit analyst.
  • ALAN NUNOKAWA to vice president, data security. A Damien High School and University of Hawai'i graduate, he joined the bank in 1996 as a research and development officer.
  • PATRICIA WAKILINA to assistant vice president and service manager, Hilo branch. A Leilehua High School graduate, she joined the bank in 1987 as a teller.
  • MARGARET HEINE to service manager, Kona branch. A Kamehameha Schools and Chaminade University graduate, she joined the bank in 1987 as a teller.
  • SHARI MINATO to operations manager, Money Processing Center. A Kaiser High School graduate, she joined by bank in 1981.

Officer appointments included:

  • ROSEMARIE CANTORIA to credit officer, credit department. A Hawai'i Pacific University graduate, she joined the bank in 1994 as a senior credit investigator.
  • JENNIFER KOBAYASHI-SCHIEL to trust officer, personal trust department. A Punahou School graduate, she joined the bank in 2003 as a trust administrator.
  • CHUEN YING LEE to trust officer, personal trust department. A graduate of National University of Singapore, she joined the bank in 2002 as a trust administrator.
  • JEN-L LYMAN to trust officer, personal trust department. A Kamehameha School and University of Hawai'i graduate, she joined the bank in 2003 as a trust administrator.
  • LAURIE ANN MAKIYA to assistant vice president and IT auditor, audit division.
  • SANDRA DUKE to customer service manager, home banking department.
  • DEBRA HARBOTTLE to personal banking officer, Makiki branch.

• University Health Alliance has promoted CHUCK MURRAY to underwriting manager. He has been an underwriter since January 2000. Prior to joining the company, he was an analyst for Benefit Plan Consultants, Inc.

Appointed as sales assistants were:

  • ROXANNE ARIOS, a University of Hawai'i graduate who served as vice president of professional development for the American Marketing Association.
  • RONIE FORONDA, a recent University of Hawai'i graduate with a degree in marketing. He served as vice president of fund-raising for the American Marketing Association.
  • DINA SCHNIEDER, a recent University of Hawai'i graduate with a degree in speech. She worked as an intern at PRWorks and has 15 years of insurance and hotel experience.

Their responsibilities include enrolling new groups, conducting new-group orientations and serving existing clients.

FRANCIS ODA, chairman and CEO of Group 70 International, has been awarded a fellowship by The American Institute of Architects. He is now a part of the AIA College of Fellows. He will travel to the Chicago AIA convention in June to confirm his fellowship.

• Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties has announced that PAT RICHARDS GILES has joined the company in the newly created position of executive vice president-administrative.

Giles will oversee information technology, ancillary services, marketing, bank-owned properties, and personnel support and development for the company's administrative team.

Prior to joining Coldwell Banker, Giles ran @venture, a business consulting company in Kamuela, Hawai'i. In this capacity she served as the contracted chief operating officer for the Common Heritage Corporation and as the chief operating officer for Kahua Ranch.

• Belt Collins Hawaii Ltd., a Honolulu-based planning, engineering, landscape architecture and environmental consulting firm, has announced the promotion of LEE WILLIAM SICHTER to principal planner.

"As principal planner, Lee will help direct the firm's efforts in the preparation of comprehensive planning studies," said Anne Mapes, president. "Lee's extensive knowledge of the land-use permitting system in Hawai'i and his experience with land-use policy will enhance our ability to expand our portfolio of clients with land-based assets."

Areas of expertise for Sichter, a senior planner in the firm's planning department, include the preparation of land-use permit applications, and environmental impact studies and related studies pertinent to a variety of planning projects, including resorts, public facilities, residential subdivisions and commercial developments.

• Dixie Grill's new general manger is BRIAN SMITH. Born in San Rafael, Calif., Smith moved to Hawai'i last year. He was previously food and beverage manager and assistant general manager for Stinson Beach Grill, a California restaurant owned by former Honolulu residents and travel writers Tom and Karen Horton.

Smith was also a member of the Stinson Beach Volunteer Fire Department and a certified emergency medical technician. Earlier, Smith was general manager for the Washington Square Bar & Grill in San Francisco; assistant manager and head waiter at Florentine's; floor manager and sous chef at Third Street Aleworks in Santa Rosa; and general manager of Viva Mexico Tropi-Cal in Sonoma County. He is a veteran of the Marine Corps.
