Age: 60
Profession: Founder of E.A. Buck Co. Inc., which has been operating since 1980. The company helps clients navigate the federal tax code.
Height: 5 feet 10
Weight: 235 pounds
Workout habits: I work out three times a week for five hours one hour is heavy weights when I do ... a minimum of 400 pounds, bench press, and then I run 13 miles the rest of the time.
When and why I started working out: I started weightlifting when I was 16 because I was always a fat, red-haired kid picked on by all the kids in school.
My good foods/bad foods: I take a multitude of supplements daily, probably over 40 pills a day, and then I've eaten on the Atkins Diet (high protein, low carbohydrates) since 1975. But the problem is I love snack foods: cookies, chips and ice cream. So though I'm very disciplined in many respects, I'm very undisciplined in other respects.
My biggest motivator: My wife and my seven children (ages 39, 35, 27 and 16, and three adopted children, ages 9, 5 and 4).
My biggest roadblock to fitness: I don't allow any. My wife knows it's a No. 1 priority in my life, so therefore there's no block to it.
What saves my sanity: I have a strong physical, financial and spiritual balance in my life.
My next challenge: To lose 15 pounds and still be able to bench over 400 pounds, and then run my 25th consecutive Honolulu Marathon.
Advice for those in the same boat: It's never too late to improve your well-being.
