Other teams in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Western Division elevated their play this season, and Pearl City was unseated as two-time defending champion.

But nobody could overtake Chargers center Marci Lobendahn when it came time for West Player of the Year voting by division coaches.

Lobendahn averaged 13.5 points per game and her strong inside play helped Pearl City finish second in the West with an 8-2 record despite the graduation of last year's West Player of the Year, point guard Christie Ayers.

Lobendahn scored 20 points in a season-opening victory over NŠnŠkuli, 17 points each in a 53-44 win over Campbell and a 51-48 squeaker over Mililani, 19 points in a 46-39 victory over 'Aiea and 17 points in a season-ending playoff loss to Kaiser.

Lobendahn is joined on the first team by Campbell senior Chaunte Jackson, Leilehua senior Pikake Nutter-Gaudet and Radford's Lia Mickey, a senior, and Tereva Moore, a sophomore.

Jackson had two 21-point outings, in a 54-45 victory over Waialua and a 34-25 win over Waipahu.

Nutter-Gaudet, a repeat first-team selection, averaged 11.1 points per game.

Mickey averaged 6.6 points per game and sank eight 3-pointers, also helping as a floor leader.

Moore scored 11 points, including the game-winning jumper as time expired, in a 32-31 road victory over Leilehua.

Lane

She averaged 9.4 points per game, finishing strong with 17 points in a 38-26 victory over NŠnŠkuli that sealed a 10-0 regular season for the Rams.

Radford's David Lane was named Coach of the Year.

The Rams not only captured their first Western Division title since 1996, but they accomplished the feat without the benefit of a home game because of a damaged gym floor.
