Flower growers break record

Sales of Hawai'i's flowers and nursery products increased 2 percent to a record $97.7 million last year, according to the Hawaii Agricultural Statistics Service.

Hawai'i County led all counties with $50.8 million

in sales. Honolulu farmers ranked second with $32.3 million. Maui County sales came in third at $11.3 million; Kaua'i sales totaled $3.2 million.


Schuman to sell 2 NAPA stores

Schuman Inc. plans to sell its Wahiawa and Halekauwila Street NAPA stores to Genuine Parts Co. of Atlanta, Ga., on June 30, Schuman officials have told the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

Schuman officials expect that most or all of the 20 affected employees will be rehired by Genuine Parts. The employees will remain on Schuman's payroll until Aug. 1, Schuman officials said.
