Lesson offered on 'mindfulness'

Thanh Huynh will be offering a two-hour "mindfulness" lesson starting at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Kawaiku'i Beach Park, opposite 'Aina Haina Shopping Center.

Part of the Intercultural, Intergeneration Relationship Program sponsored by the Hawaii Association of International Buddhists, the first meeting

is designed for children from kindergarten to sixth grade. It begins with the sharing of intercultural stories, followed by an hourlong mindfulness lesson at 12:30.

A program for teens and young adults will be held from 11 a.m. to noon June 20 and June 27 at Jodo Mission.

Race Unity Day set tomorrow

Race Unity Day will be celebrated at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Honolulu Bahai Center, 2165 10th Ave. in Palolo Valley. The theme of this year's free program is "The Healing of Racism," with discussion focusing on the elimination of prejudice.

There will also be demonstration of an ancient Hawaiian hula, and lunch will be offered.

Race Unity Day was inaugurated in 1957 by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahai's of the United States. It is held annually, generally on the first Sunday in June, by members of the Bahai faith.

Mary Magdalene topic of class

The Rev. Frank White, pastor of the Religious Science Church of Honolulu, will explore the numerous theories about Mary Magdalene and her relationship with Jesus in a two-session class, "Mary Magdalene: Myth and Mystery," at 7 p.m. Tuesday and June 22.

Both two-hour classes will be held at the church's center in Suite 301 at 1521 S. King St.

Nu'uanu sessions on 'Power Up'

Nu'uanu Congregational Church is offering "Power Up for God" as its 2004 Intergenerational Summer Program, with Matt Harwell, youth drama and music leader from York College in Nebraska.

The 11-session program is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sundays and 5 p.m. Fridays, June 20 to July 25 (dinner included). The free sessions include Bible lessons, worship, games, drama, music, puppetry, arts and crafts.
