Tonight's Must-See
"North Shore," 7 p.m., Fox. This show could have glided by on its looks alone. Set at a hotel along a gorgeous Hawaiian coast, it offers sleek faces and torsos. Kristoffer Polaha ("America's Prince: The John F. Kennedy Story") and Brooke Burns ("Baywatch") play ex-lovers, reluctantly working together. They're surrounded by gorgeous co-workers (Nikki DeLoach, Corey Sevier, etc.) and guests. However, the best news is that "North Shore" also might have a brain. The opener has solid drama and dialogue. Like Fox's "The O.C.," it explores the gap between the wealthy and the regular, while allowing us to care for both sides.
"Heir to an Execution: A Granddaughter's Story," 5 p.m., HBO. In this documentary, Ivy Meeropol examines her family history. Her grandparents, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, were convicted of passing nuclear secrets to the Soviets. A half-century after they were executed, supporters still insisted they were loving idealists who were framed by the red scare. Meeropol talks to people who knew the Rosenbergs. What emerges is a complex and fascinating family portrait.
Of Note
"Monster House," 5 p.m., Discovery Channel. In a neat change of pace for this macho-overload show, an all-female crew remodels a dream house for surfers.
"The George Lopez Show," 7:30 p.m., ABC. George finds himself torn between the feuding brothers who want to divide the company.
"According to Jim," 8 p.m., ABC. Dan Aykroyd and Laraine Newman reunite with series star Jim Belushi, whose brother John was their "Saturday Night Live" colleague. Aykroyd and Newman play cops, getting ready to marry.
"The Casino," 8 p.m., Fox. After becoming young multimillionaires by selling their Internet business, two guys bought the Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. This reality show (from "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett) follows their efforts.
"For Love or Money," 8 p.m., NBC. Last week, the field was quickly trimmed to six women. Tonight, two will win dates with the blandly handsome Preston.
"Next Action Star" debut, 9:05 p.m., NBC. This first hour is moderately entertaining. It takes us through the hectic audition process with an endless string of fit-looking people. Eventually, one man and woman will be chosen for an NBC movie.
