By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Tube talk: Watch for a new Oceanic 16 TV show this fall, "Ninja Ex," from award-winning local filmmaker-director Aaron Yamasato. His groundbreaking film "Blood of the Samurai" has been commercially exhibited here and in exotic ports like Thailand and Indonesia, and that indie feature evolved into an OC16 cable series, too. Paul Booth, who has been a booster of the Hawai'i Student Film Festival, will produce "Ninja Ex." ...

Emme Tomimbang's "Emme's Island Moments," airing at 9 p.m. Thursday and repeating at 4 p.m. Sunday on KHON-2, will assemble and explore sports heroes. Among her "Inspiring Island Athletes" guests: June Jones, University of Hawai'i football coach, who reveals a golf secret — he plays barefoot — at the recent Willie K golf tournament on Maui. "It might be the start of a trend," Tomimbang says about Jones' shoeless swings. Tomimbang also talks story with Chiba Lotte Marines baseballer Benny Agbayani, San Francisco 49er alumni coordinator Jesse Sapolu and legendary golfer Arnold Palmer. ...

This 'n' data: Panama Hattie's, a new club in 'Aiea, is searching for a singer-dancer-model type who might resemble a Panama Hattie. "She must look good in a tutti-fruitti hat," said club co-owner Jack Cione. "We'll want her as a mascot, a hostess with the mostest." Yemun Chung, a partner in the venture, came up with the idea to have a face for the place. While already open, Panama Hattie's (above the 'Aiea Dixie Grill), plans a grand opening June 25. ...

The Brothers Cazimero will be on the road over the next few months. On Aug. 18, Robert and Roland Cazimero appear at Virginia's Wolf Trap Filene Center, in an "Aloha! Hawai'i Music Festival" that also features Ledward Ka'apana, Cyril Pahinui, Dennis Kamakahi, Keoki Kahumoku, Herb Ohta Jr., David Kamakahi and Patrick Landeza. Then in September, The Caz perform at the Hollywood Bowl, appearing with maestro John Mauceri and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Ex-Seawind member Ken Wild plays with that orchestra, and is looking forward to getting a fix of Hawaiian music. ...

Harry B. Soria Jr., host of Hawaiian 105 KINE's "Territorial Airwaves" on Sundays, will co-emcee the "Swingtime in Hawai'i" concert, part of this year's Hawai'i International Jazz Festival, July 30 at the Hawai'i Theatre. A 17-piece territorial-era big-band will be assembled, according to organizer Abe Weinstein. In turn, Weinstein guests on Soria's July 25 show to compare notes and talk story. ...

And Weinstein has added Martin Denny to the opening festivities. "I visited Martin at his Hawai'i Kai apartment and he wanted to be part of it," said Weinstein. ...

Random notes: Jackie Chan, who was in town last week to launch his "Around the World in 80 Days" movie, is a man of many talents (restaurateur, humanitarian, businessman, etc.). He's also a man of many names — variously called, in past projects, Jacky Chan, Yuan Lung Chan, Yuen-Lung Chan, Lung Chen, Long Cheng, Wellson Chin, Chan Yuan Lung, Chen Lung and Sing Lung. ...

It was quite a coup for Bobbi Kogan, a member of the Louis Vuitton Creative Arts Program at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. Two of her paintings were part of the recent art show at Diamond Head Theatre (during the run of "Hello Dolly!"), which made the former stroke patient pretty proud, because she was hanging in there with the likes of Peggy Chun, Lynn Cook, Donna Burns and Scottie Flamm, among others. ...

Trade winds: Shari Lynn, the local fave who played Dolly Levi in the aforementioned "Dolly!," paid tribute to KSSK's Michael W. Perry and Larry Price when she appeared on their Saturday morning show at John Dominis recently. She reworked lyrics to suit the talk-show hosts and started handing out matchmaker business cards, only to realize that one of the cards was her parking ticket — which she had to get back to retrieve her car. ...

Kimberlee Bassford, an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Student Academy Award winner and a 1995 Punahou School graduate, is originally from Honolulu.
