Tonight's Must-See
"The Simple Life 2: Road Trip," 7 and 8 p.m., Fox. When "The Simple Life" first aired last fall it had low-key charm. Heiresses Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie tried farm living. They were clueless and self-centered, but they also were upbeat and polite. It was possible to laugh at them and with them, simultaneously. Now comes a sequel. This time, they depart Miami with a gorgeous old car, a small house trailer and no money or credit cards. They're given a plan for weaving across small-town America. In the first half-hour, Hilton is at a ranch, falls from a horse and is taken by helicopter to the emergency room. It's an odd start to a disarmingly funny series.
Of Note
"Bridget Jones's Diary" (2001), 5 p.m., TBS. As part of its new comedy image, TBS wisely runs this movie in front of its "Sex and the City" reruns. The story about a single woman's misadventures in the city is OK, but it's the cast that's wonderful. Renee Zellweger stars, gaining weight for the role.
"Into Character" debut, 7 p.m., AMC. We see a regular chap train to be like his movie hero, Rocky Balboa. That's sandwiched by "Rocky II" (1979) at 4:30 p.m. and "Rocky" (1976) at 7:30 p.m.
"Reno 911," 7:30 p.m., Comedy Central. Trudy (Kerri Kenney) is the only person who doesn't realize her new boyfriend is a notorious serial killer. The result has some hilarious moments.
"Method & Red," 8:30 p.m., Fox. In a twist on the "Beverly Hillbillies" plot, two hip-hop stars (played by music moguls Redman and Method Man) buy a mansion and disturb their neighbors. "Method & Red" has its fun moments.
