The Saturday Farmers' Market at Kapi'olani Community College has adopted earlier summer hours open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. instead of 8 a.m. to noon.
"We found that everybody was there earlier, it's light earlier, people are up ... also, it's gotten warmer, so it's easier for people to shop when it's cool," said organizer Joan Namkoong.
This week's market will be a very full one, she said. Semi-retired restaurateur Martin Wyss (founder of Swiss Inn) will be doing a cooking demonstration with Island chicken at 9 a.m.
The folks from MA'O (Mala'ai'pio) organic farm are coming in from Wai'anae to do a poi-pounding demonstration.
Joe Aloha Catering will serve a fish Benedict breakfast.
And Kula strawberries will be specially priced at two containers for $5. Mango and lychee also are plentiful.
The Farmers' Market is held at the Diamond Head Road campus.
