Rockers gets ready to roll

Show creator Mark Burnett, who has produced such reality programs as "The Apprentice" and the upcoming "The Contender," has hired David Goffin, a supervising producer from Fox's "Idol," to plan a TV competition that puts a rock spin on things, says Variety. The intention is to discover a lead singer who could step into an internationally known rock act. Goffin was in Hawai'i for the "Idol" auditions last year.
Young, single and caffeinated
A survey on how single professionals spend their time and money may shed light on why there always seems to be a line at Starbucks.
When singles are out, 89 percent spend money on gourmet coffee, and 56 percent spend up to $30 a week on alcohol, a study conducted for It's Just Lunch dating service said.
Almost half of singles (45 percent) spend $20 to $40 on lunch each week, the survey said. If the lunch is a first date, most singles consider how messy a meal is when ordering and are unlikely to order a dessert. Almost half (42 percent) think it is unacceptable to order a cocktail during a first lunch date.
