Race dirty at Swamp Romp

The Swamp Romp promises that it is indeed Hawai'i's dirtiest foot race and team challenge.

Teams of six people will tackle a sandy and muddy course filled with obstacles tomorrow morning at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i in Kane'ohe Bay.

Each team must start and finish with all six members. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams.

SWIMMING

North Shore series starts June 26

The North Shore Swim Series starts June 26 with a one-mile swim from Sunset Beach to Pipeline.

The Raging Isle Sprint is the first in a series of four swims that runs through August. The Surf & Sea Cup on July 10 is a one-mile swim at Hale'iwa Beach Park, followed with Cholo's 2000 Swim on July 24, a 2,000-meter swim at Waimea Bay.

The final race is the Surf & Sea Challenge, a 2.3-mile swim from Pipeline to Waimea Bay.

AUTO RACING

Demolition derby on Father's Day Eve

Tomorrow is the Father's Day Eve Demolition Derby at Hawai'i Motor Speedway at Campbell Industrial Park.

Prior to the derby, there will be stockcar racing at 5 p.m. and team races at 8 p.m. The derby, with a $1,000 prize, is scheduled to start at 10 p.m.

TRIATHLON

Tinman Triathlon needs volunteers

Volunteers are needed for various positions for the Tinman Triathlon on July 18.

The race needs run-course marshals and bike- and run- transition corralers on race day. Volunteers are wanted for setup on July 17 and breakdown following the race.
