Kaua'i forecast calls for growth

Kaua'i's economy is forecast to grow through 2006, according to a report released yesterday by the University of Hawai'i Economic Research Organization.

Real personal income on the island is expected to grow 2.8 percent to 3.2 percent from 2004 through 2006. Job growth of 1.5 percent and 1.2 percent is expected in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

Kauai'i is benefiting from strong tourism from the Mainland market and a buoyant construction industry, according to the report.



Fluor Hawaii changes name

The contractors for the Ford Island master development project said yesterday that they will be known as Ford Island Properties LLC, changing the name from

Fluor Hawaii LLC. Hunt Building Co. and Fluor Federal Services LLC were jointly awarded the Navy contract in July 2003.
