Shanghai films will be showcased in Hawai'i
There'll be a week of Shanghai cinema at the Hawai'i International Film Festival in October, thanks to a bonding recently in Shanghai.
Boller
Chuck Boller, HIFF executive director, met with local and Chinese business and government leaders to seal a deal that renews a film festival partnership between HIFF and the Shanghai International Film Festival. "These meetings were a wonderful way to promote our growing Hawai'i film industry and begin a dialogue ... between Hawai'i and China," said Boller.

'Picture bride' out on DVD
Now you can get your own picture bride. Meaning your own "Picture Bride" DVD. Shot on the North Shore in 1993, the film won the Audience Award at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival.
It tells of Riyo, a spirited young Japanese who ventures to Hawai'i in 1918 as a picture bride. The man she meets is not what she expected. The film was released nationwide on DVD recently and is available at retail outlets and on the Internet. Go to www.picturebridefilm.com.
