Australian wins pro bodyboard

Australia's Kira Llewellen won the professional bodyboard division of the $1,000 Liquid Doll Wahine Challenge held in 1- to 2-foot surf at Sandy Beach on Saturday.
Brazil's Neymara Carvalho finished second followed by Hawai'i's Claudia Ferrari and Karla Costa Taylor. 'Ewa Beach's Delore Manus won the amateur division in the International Bodyboard Association contest.
The contest followed a documentary action film co-produced by 1999 World Champion Karla Costa Taylor and video producer Betty Depolito. The contest aims to bring more exposure to women's bodyboarding at one of the best spots in the world, Depolito said.

Volleyball player trial postponed
The misdemeanor assault trial of former University of Hawai'i volleyball All-American Lily Kahumoku scheduled for yesterday at District Court has been postponed until sometime in September.
The complainant, José José Delgado, was in Puerto Rico and unavailable to appear, the prosecutor's office said.
Kahumoku, who will be 23 today, waived her right to a jury trial in May and will be tried by a state judge.
She is accused of assaulting Delgado, a UH men's volleyball player, between 12:30 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. April 9 at an Ala Moana apartment.

Hopper to lead Big Island clinic
Australian coach Gavin Hopper invites players who want to improve their tennis game to The Fairmont Orchid's Tennis Pavilion July 2 for an intense 2 1/2-hour instructional clinic geared toward intermediate and advanced adults.
Hopper has trained Monica Seles, Mark Philippoussis, Iva Majoli and Tommy Haas. He is a professor of sport science at Australia's Bond University.
He will conduct two "Serious Play" group skills clinics at The Orchid's 10-court facility. The first is from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The second goes from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $65 per person.
