Busy week for Aloha Section

Many of Hawai'i's finest Aloha Section PGA pros and juniors are gearing up for major golf events the next few days. The Aloha Section/Turtle Bay Resort Match Play Championship opens tomorrow, while the Callaway Hawai'i State Junior Championship starts Tuesday.
The pros play at Turtle Bay's Arnold Palmer Course, with the qualifying round tomorrow. Mauna Kea's Kevin Hayashi will defend his title. Hayashi was also match play champion in 2001.
The field also includes two-time champion Ron Castillo Jr. (1997, 2002), Kevin Carll, Andrew Feldmann, Matt Hall, Kirk Nelson, 2000 winner Brian Sasada and Beau Yokomoto. Hayashi beat Yokomoto in last year's final, 2 and 1.
Mike Iyoki is defending his senior title against a field that includes 2002 champion Ron Kia'aina and inaugural winner Larry Stubblefield. Iyoki won 4 and 3 over Rich Fite in last year's final.
Match play is the Aloha Section's third major championship of 2004. Qualifying begins at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. Quarterfinals are Tuesday, from 7:32 a.m., with semifinals Wednesday morning (7) and the final Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
Senior semifinals are at noon Tuesday, with the final starting at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday.
The sixth annual Callaway Championship opens Tuesday at Hawai'i Prince Golf Club. Girls and boys will compete in the 13-14, 11-12 and 10-under age divisions. The 15-18 division plays the following week (July 6-7) at the Club at Hokuli'a.
There will be 91 golfers in this week's field, including Junior World qualifiers Skye Inakoshi, Paul Samiere, Christian Yagi, Ryan Kuroiwa, Jonah Fonacier, Lorens Chan, Cyd Okino, Kelli Oride, Alexandra Kaui, Bradley Shigezawa, Alika Bell, Dayna Bersamin, Rac-Lyn Morikawa and Ashlee Nagamine.
The juniors start at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Hawai'i Prince, and tee off from 6:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The following week's tournament on the Big Island will feature defending champion Allan Baab, 2004 state high school champion Kurt Nino and 2004 Manoa Cup champion Ryan Perez in the boys field. Hawai'i State Women's Match Play champion Mari Chun headlines the girls field, along with Kayla Morinaga, Mike Ueoka and Ayaka Kaneko.
