DeGarmo gets air play

Advertiser Staff and News Services

"American Idol" finalist Diana DeGarmo's first single, "Dreams," will be released today by RCA Records.

The 17-year-old singer says she's excited to hear it played on the radio. "I know I'm probably going to have a heart attack," DeGarmo said.

The three-song CD also contains DeGarmo's version of "I Believe" (the single released by "Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino) and "Don't Cry Out Loud."

'Fahrenheit' is hot

"Fahrenheit 9/11," Michael Moore's scathing look at the Bush administration and the war in Iraq, is the first documentary to debut as No. 1 at the weekend box office. The film raked in an estimated $21.8 million. Last weekend's top movie, "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story," dropped to third place with $18.5 million. "White Chicks" was second with $19.6 million. Coming out today is the book "Michael Moore Is a Big Fat Stupid White Man," in which authors David T. Hardy and Jason Clarke take Moore to task for "serial mendacity."

Seen on 'North Shore'

Technically, there wasn't a local celebrity on "North Shore" last night, but that's not to say it didn't have local flavor.

Episode 3, "The surprise party," featured local actresses posing as dancers — Kristin Alesna, Leilani Bush, Nina Makalena and Alyson Thomas. Professional Samoan knife dancers Mervyn Lilo and Trumaine Oto performed, and local model Massimo Galluzzo played "the cute Italian guy."
