'Olelo executive appointed CEO

The 'Olelo Community Television board of directors appointed Keali'i Segool Lopez president and CEO of O'ahu's community access television.

Lopez, a 12-year executive with 'Olelo, replaces Lurline Wailana McGregor, who resigned early this year.

Lopez served as 'Olelo's associate executive director for eight years and its chief operating officer for the last four. Previously, she managed Kamehameha Schools' distance learning project.



Shipping firms hopeful of talks

Officials from Young Brothers Ltd., and Hawaiian Tug & Barge say they are hopeful that a contract agreement can be reached with the Inlandboatmen's Union before midnight tonight when a three-year contract with unionized workers is scheduled to expire.

The IBU represents approximately 60 of the 360 employees of the two companies.



Economic board sets staff, offices

Helfrich
The statewide Economic Development Alliance of Hawaii is switching from being an all-volunteer organization to partnerships with professional staff and offices in Honolulu.

Paula Helfrich was named chief executive of the organization.

The alliance is made up of the four island economic development boards, the Hawaii Business Roundtable and other industry sectors.
