Tonight's Must-See
"The Mystery of Natalie Wood," 7 p.m., ABC. Natalie Wood was a bright and talented actress who occasionally had roles worthy of her like "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Splendor in the Grass." Except for its prolonged ending, this story is skillfully told. Justine Waddell, superb in PBS' "Great Expectations," jumps from British roles to play an American icon; the result is convincing and involving. Peter Bogdanovich directs beautifully, working in some first-hand accounts from people who were there, including Lana Wood, Natalie's sister. "Mystery" seems like a strong film then dawdles too long on Wood's drowning death at 43.
"American Idol: Uncut, Uncensored & Untalented," 7 p.m., Fox. We all know the reason to tune in tonight is special guest William Hung. He bangs.
