Marriott hopes for expansion

J.W. Marriott Jr., president and chief executive of Marriott International, said he sees leisure travel growing and hopes to expand the company's business in Hawai'i.

Marriott, who is visiting Hawai'i this week, said the company is in negotiations to maintain its presence on Maui and the Big Island.

Outrigger Enterprises and Marriott struck a deal that put the Marriott name on Outrigger's Wailea Resort and Waikoloa Beach hotel on the Big Island last year, but Outrigger announced in January it plans to sell both of the hotels to help recapitalize the company.



Secret Service job fair near

The U.S. Secret Service will host a job fair and applicant testing Saturday at the Ala Moana Hotel.

The agency is recruiting applicants for the Secret Service Uniformed Division. Officers are responsible for protecting the president and vice president of the United States as well as visiting world leaders.

Starbucks to sell Kona coffee

Coffee retailer Starbucks Corp. yesterday said it will sell Kona coffee at its 4,176 company-owned stores for the first time in seven years starting April 23. The coffee retailing giant already offers Kona coffee at Hawai'i locations.

The selected Kona coffee will be sold under Starbucks' Black Apron Exclusive label, which features different gourmet coffees. The coffee will sell for $19 per half-pound bag.
