THE LEFT LANE
Rockin' arias?

Advertiser Staff and News Services

It's being called "Punk Rock Opera," but it might just as well be dubbed Anarchy At The Met. We're guessing that's what'll happen when progressive punk bands from all-ages indie show promoter Unity Crayons and aria-friendly vocalists from Hawaii Opera Theatre meet for the live equivalent of a mash-up CD at McCoy Pavilion on March 20.

Picture bands such as Dork, The 86 List and Suspicious Minds jamming on original music while vocalists from HOT simultaneously throw down some operatic freestyle, and you've got the idea at work here.

"I have no idea who's going to show up. Really," said HOT artistic administrator John Parkinson. "We're just completely saying, 'Let's see what happens.' " The 6 to 9 p.m. all-ages show is free, but donations will be accepted in support of nonprofits Unity Crayons and HOT.

We can't wait to witness the medieval-style havoc those Viking helmets are sure to raise in the mosh pit.

Get diapers delivered

Traveling with young children no longer has to mean packing all your belongings or shopping as soon as you land. A new service, Babies Travel Lite, will deliver baby supplies anywhere in the country, whether it's a ski condo, beach resort or Grandma's.

For a $15 fee — or more, depending on how close to departure you place your order — the service will deliver everything including diapers, formula and night lights. For more information, go to www.babiestravellite.com, or call toll-free (888) 450-5483.

Celebrate the moon

Moongazers of all stripes, look up: A World Moon Festival July 16-18 will celebrate the 35th anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin's first steps on the lunar surface, sponsored by Moonfest, www.moonfest.net, an organization that studies the moon in world culture, generates new art about the moon and the cosmos, and works to build interest in space exploration.

Moonfest suggests you put on a program of moon music (folk, rock or classical) or sponsor a moon poetry slam. See www.moonfest.net for more event suggestions. Notify Moonfest of your plan, and it may go up on the online site.
