OIA West: San Nicolas force on mound, at plate

Alexis San Nicolas was 7-2 with a 1.50 ERA this season.

San Nicolas, a senior, went 7-2 with a 1.50 earned run average and tossed one-hitters against Radford, Nanakuli, Wai'anae and Pearl City en route to helping Leilehua go 8-2 in the regular season.
She also batted .426 from the cleanup spot with one home run, two doubles, four triples and 10 RBIs.
In her biggest game, San Nicolas pitched a six-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks, and also went 3 for 4 with three doubles, to help the Mules defeat Mililani, 6-3. It was the Trojans' first OIA West loss since the 1998-99 season.
Against Nanakuki in the regular season finale, San Nicolas went 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Mules win 7-2. In one of her losses, she pitched a five-hitter but fell to Pearl City, 2-1.
San Nicolas' catcher, fellow senior Pikake Nutter-Gaudet, also received West all-star first team honors.
Division co-champ Kapolei led the way with seven first-team selections, including three Manuma sisters: first baseman Malamaisaua, shortstop Valana and outfielder Anita.
Other Hurricanes making the first team are second baseman Chaz Ebalarosa, third baseman Austi Paris, outfielder Amanda Shigetani and designated player Jasmin Sanchez.
Mililani, Pearl City and Wai'anae each placed one player on the first team. Outfielder Ciera Senas was the Trojans' representative, pitcher Tracy Kane made it for Wai'anae and Pearl City's Kellie Nishikida was selected as a utility player.
Kapolei's Tony Saffery was named Coach of the Year for guiding the Hurricanes to a share of the West crown in just their third varsity season.
