Four judges on list to fill slot on appeals court

Advertiser Staff

Four Circuit Court judges are among six candidates nominated by the Judicial Selection Commission to fill a new position on the Intermediate Court of Appeals.

Gov. Linda Lingle, who will make an appointment from that list, released the names of the candidates yesterday.

They include Circuit judges Victoria Marks, Richard Perkins, Michael Town and Frances Wong. Alexa Fujise, who heads the appellate division at the city prosecutor's office, and private attorney Susan Ichinose were also nominated.

The new judge position on the Intermediate Court of Appeals was one of two created by the Legislature last year, bringing the number of judges on the court to six. Lingle appointed Craig H. Nakamura to fill the fifth position on the court in January, and the state Senate confirmed the nomination.

Lingle also released the names of six candidates to fill a Circuit Court vacancy left by Dan Kochi, who retired last year. They include District Court judges Bert Ayabe and Gerald Kibe, and attorneys James Hershey, Ronette Kawakami, Dale Lee and Michael Tanigawa.
