Officials identify stabbing victim

The medical examiner's office has identified a stabbing victim who died Feb. 26 as Dionicio Campania Jr.

Campania, 20, was stabbed Feb. 22 near the parking lot at Kalakaua Recreation Center and died four days later at The Queen's Medical Center. An autopsy determined that Campania died from wounds to his liver and right kidney.

A 22-year-old Kalihi man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing Campania.

Man charged with attempted murder

Police have charged a 29-year-old man with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a confrontation Oct. 18 at a street corner in Kalihi.

Jonathan R. Mamaril is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder and a firearm offense. Bail was set at $300,000.

Mamaril was arrested Monday at 331 Libby St. after police determined he was a suspect in the case.

Two other men, John Paul Madrid and Jonathan Rivera Soriano, 29, had been charged in the case, but police say Soriano is not a suspect.
