Coleman, Cataluna win Cades awards
Advertiser Staff
Author Stuart Holmes Coleman and Honolulu Advertiser columnist and playwright Lee Cataluna have been awarded the 2003 Elliot Cades Awards for Literature by the Hawai'i Literary Arts Council.
The annual awards recognize one established and one emerging artist.
Coleman, chosen for the emerging-artist award, is the author of the nationally distributed book "Eddie Would Go: The Story of Eddie Aikau, Hawaiian Hero," a chronicle of the iconic Aikau and the emergence of the modern surf movement.
Cataluna was chosen for her popular and entertaining plays including "Da Mayah" and "Folks You Meet in Longs" as well as for her daily columns for The Advertiser.
Coleman and Cataluna will be honored at an awards ceremony and at a reading of their works next month.
