Tonight's Must-See
"Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie's Angels," 8 p.m., NBC. "Charlie's Angels" hit the ABC schedule in 1976, at a time when TV's cops Kojak and Baretta and Starsky and Hutch and others were somber men. Here were three glamorous female detectives. The show jumped to No. 5 in the Nielsen ratings. Everything about it including Farrah Fawcett-Majors' hair made a pop-culture buzz.
Tricia Helfer, a newcomer who was so good as the gorgeous killer robot in "Battlestar Galactica," is the perfect Farrah, in a lightly entertaining tale.
Of Note
"Jane Goodall's Return to Gombe," 3, 6 p.m., Animal Planet. It was 46 years ago that Goodall began her classic study of chimps. Now she is a tireless campaigner for nature preservation, making only occasional trips to the African jungle she loves. This documentary follows her return there. She witnesses the chimps having a power struggle.
"Eye of the Beholder," 4, 7 p.m., Travel Channel. How the ancient ritual of tattoos has turned into modern rebellion.
"Yes, Dear," 7 p.m., CBS. In a rerun, Jimmy is on the "Big Brother" show.
"Everybody Loves Raymond," 8 p.m., CBS. In a terrific rerun, Ray has felt guilt for decades for ruining his dad's jazz records.
"Judas," 8 p.m., ABC. It's tough to tell a story through the eyes of Judas, a perplexing biblical figure. Pax TV tried a version that fell flat; this one produced and written by Tom Fontana ("Homicide" and "Oz") is fairly good. "Judas" is best at palace intrigue, showing Pilate (Tim Matheson) futilely groping for a compromise. It's weaker at characters. Judas (Johnathon Schaech) comes across as an intense rebel, trapped by circumstance; Jesus (Jonathan Scarfe) is an anomaly, much lighter (in hair, complexion and attitude) than the world around him.
"CSI: Miami," 9 p.m., CBS. In a rerun, a body is thrown from atop a parking garage.
