Man suspected in Makawao stabbing
MAKAWAO, Maui A 41-year-old 'Ulupalakua man is a suspect in a Friday night stabbing at a Makawao home.
The suspect has not been charged, but was being held in lieu of $56,000 bail on warrants in unrelated cases involving assault, drunken driving and other charges.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Friday when the suspect entered his ex-girlfriend's home on Kekolu Place and used a pocket knife to stab another man in the chest, said Lt. Glenn Cuomo of the Maui Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.
The victim was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center. Information on his condition was not available yesterday.
Autopsy set for body found on Maui
WAILUKU, Maui An autopsy is scheduled today after the discovery of a partially decomposed body of a man near 'Iao Stream in Happy Valley.
Police yesterday were still trying to identify the man, believed to be a Caucasian in his 50s or 60s.
The body, found Saturday night, appears to have been dead for several days, said police Lt. Glenn Cuomo of the Maui Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.
Cuomo said there were no obvious signs of foul play.
Man found dead in police cellblock
A 35-year-old man charged Friday with second-degree forgery was found dead Sunday night in his cell at the Honolulu Police Department's main station on Beretania Street. The man was scheduled for a District Court appearance yesterday.
The medical examiner's office declined to identify the man until his family is notified. An autopsy will be performed.
The man was last seen alive at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. He was thought to be asleep during routine checks of the cellblock, police said. An officer entered the man's cell and found him dead at 11:20 p.m.
There were no signs of foul play, police said.
Woman charged in husband's stabbing
A Wahiawa woman was charged Saturday with second-degree assault in connection with the stabbing of her 27-year-old husband.
Anayansi Phillips, 28, is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Police found her husband bleeding at 12:47 a.m. at the couple's Wilikina Drive home.
He is in serious condition at The Queen's Medical Center, police said.
