Mabry signs to play football for Kentucky

Advertiser Staff

Mililani High linebacker Mikhail Mabry said last night he has signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of Kentucky.

Mabry, the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Western Division Defensive Player of the Year, is 6 feet 2 and 230 pounds. He said he made a campus visit over the weekend. He said the Wildcats were the only program recruiting him.

"It's a chance to show what I think I can do, and do what other schools didn't think I could do and prove them wrong," he said.

Mabry said Kentucky assistant Ron McBride was his contact.

Mabry said he will "gray shirt" his first year. He will attend a junior college in the fall and enroll at Kentucky for the spring semester.
