FAITH BRIEFS
235 prepare for church baptism

Advertiser Staff

The Diocese of Honolulu will baptize 235 people at Easter Vigil ceremonies next month.

That number is up from the 218 last year.

The group includes 37 from one parish alone, the Korean Catholic Community, which is part of St. Pius X Church in Manoa.

More than 200 people declared their desire to be baptized at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa on Feb. 29 in a Rite of Election. There are four Rite of Election ceremonies in Hawai'i; besides O'ahu, ceremonies were conducted on Maui and two on the Big Island.

Information: Office of Worship for the diocese, 441-5945.

Jesus subject of presentation

Fifty musicians, singers and performers will create "The Witness," a free live, outdoor performance of Jesus Christ's life, death and resurrection at 7:30 p.m. April 1 to 3 and April 8 to 10 at the KEY Project in Kane'ohe, 47-200 Waihe'e Road.

Pacific Island Praise is presenting the drama with Waiola Worship Center and Ke Kumu Ola O Kahalu'u, a coalition of six Windward churches.

Student choir to perform

The Ebony Heritage Singers, a student choir from the University of Dayton in Ohio, will perform at 3 p.m. today, at the Mystical Rose Oratory at Chaminade University, 3140 Wai'alae Ave.

The 25-student choir is one of only a handful of Midwestern college gospel choirs to be fully credited and supported by a college department of music. The group has also performed in several national conferences as well as in Ireland, France, West Africa and Jamaica, but this is their first appearance in Hawai'i.

The concert is free; seating is limited.
