Prosecutor Carlisle seeks re-election

Honolulu City Prosecutor Peter Carlisle has filed nomination papers to run for a third four-year term of office.
Unlike rules for the mayor's office and City Council, which limit successful candidates to no more than two consecutive four-year terms, there is no term limit for the prosecutor's office. The race for prosecutor is nonpartisan, meaning candidates do not have to state a political party preference.
Carlisle, 51, was first elected in November 1996 and ran unopposed in 2000.
"I think it's great work, it's worth doing and I enjoy doing it I like my job and I want to keep it," Carlisle said.
As of noon Thursday when Carlisle filed the papers to run for re-election, he was the only candidate for prosecutor.
