Hawai'i to play Utah State

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team accepted a bid to play at Utah State in the National Invitation Tournament today.

Hawai'i and Utah State are scheduled to play a first-round game on Wednesday at Utah State's Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah.

The Rainbow Warriors and Aggies were two of 40 teams invited to the NIT.

Hawai'i, which is 19-11, will be playing in the postseason for the fourth consecutive season. The 'Bows also participated in the NIT last year, winning a first round game at UNLV, then losing at Minnesota.

Utah State is 25-3 and was ranked No. 22 in last week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll. The Aggies lost to Cal State Northridge in the semfinals of the Big West Conference Tournament last week. That loss probably cost Utah State a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
