Man arrested in campaign probe

Larry K. Matsuo, former chief executive officer and president of Park Engineering, was arrested Monday by Honolulu police on suspicion of making illegal political campaign contributions.

Matsuo, 77, surrendered to police and was booked at HPD's headquarters building at 9:38 a.m. He was booked on suspicion of money laundering and false money contributions, and released without charges.

Matsuo's arrest is the latest in an investigation into illegal contributions to Mayor Jeremy Harris.

HPD assigns commanders

Two Honolulu Police Department patrol districts and HPD's traffic division have new commanders.

The changes involve Majors Bryan Wauke, Doug Miller and Terence Yuen. Wauke and Miller switched commands last week, with the former moving from the traffic division to the Pearl City patrol district.

Yuen is the new commander of the Kapolei-Wai'anae patrol district, which was under the command of an acting major for more than a year. Capt. Marie McCauley is serving as acting major of the East Honolulu patrol district that Yuen previously headed.
