Maui pedestrian victim identified

MAKAWAO, Maui — A pedestrian killed Sunday on Haleakala Highway was identified yesterday as Sete Mounga, 66, of Makawao.

Police said the incident happened at 7:30 p.m. at the Makani Road intersection when Mounga was struck by a station wagon driven by a 64-year-old Kihei woman. While lying on the road, he was hit by a Ford sport utility vehicle driven by a 36-year-old Waihe'e woman.

It was Maui County's fourth traffic death of the year, compared with three at this time a year ago.


Body found in 'Iao identified

WAILUKU, Maui — A body found March 6 on a flume in '?ao Stream has been identified as that of Edward Napp, 56, of Kahului.

Police are awaiting autopsy results, but there were no signs of foul play, according to Lt. Glenn Cuomo of the Maui Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division. Police found a bicycle believed to be Napp's about a mile upstream from his body.
