Hawai'i is one of the big themes of the new TV pilot season.
As Stephen Battaglio of The New York Daily News wrote this week, Hawai'i hasn't seen much prime-time action since "Magnum P.I." but it could return in a big way with a new wave of pilot projects: Fox's "O'ahu," NBC's "Hawai'i" and the WB's "Rocky Point."
"O'ahu," a hotel drama, wrapped up filming at the Turtle Bay Resort last week. "Hawai'i," a cop show, is filming at various locations on O'ahu, including Kaka'ako.
"Rocky Point," produced by John Stockwell and Lizzy Weiss of "Blue Crush," is about a North Shore woman who takes in her estranged father. Production is scheduled to begin in June.
Another pilot, ABC's "Lost," begins filming at remote locations on O'ahu next month. The show revolves around a group of plane crash survivors stuck on a deserted island.
