HPU baseball splits with Presbyterian

Grandon Costa tripled, doubled and drove in two runs as Hawai'i Pacific defeated Presbyterian (S.C.), 13-8, yesterday in the second game of a baseball doubleheader at Aloha Stadium.

Geoffrey Say also had two hits, including a triple, for the Sea Warriors (7-14).

Kyle Stanley and Brandon Sato each had two RBIs for HPU, which overcame a 4-2 deficit with a six-run fifth inning.

Zach Matthews pitched a six-hitter with five strikeouts as Presbyterian (13-13) won the seven-inning opener, 7-1.

HPU starts a series with Cal State Dominguez Hills tomorrow at Aloha Stadium. First pitch is at 4 p.m.

WATER POLO

UH women host tournaments: The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team will play in three tournaments over 10 days at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

The Rainbows will host the nation's top two teams in USC and Stanford in this weekend's Aloha Classic Invitational while No. 3 UCLA comes to town for The Rainbow Classic next weekend.

Between those two events, UH will play in the Hawai'i International Tournament, which will feature seven international teams.

COACHING

Positive clinic set: The University of Hawai'i-Hilo athletic department will host the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) workshops, March 23-25, at Wentworth Hall's Room 1 on campus.

Workshops are scheduled for different groups each night at 6. Call the athletic office at 974-7520 for registration forms.

The three groups are parents, coaches and leaders of youth sports organizations.

Pre-registration is required, and there is a $5 fee for each participant.
