The sophomore class took top honors in the combined class competition at last night's 82nd Kamehameha Schools song contest at the Neal Blaisdell Arena. Elijah Isaac led the 10th-graders in their rendition of "Ho'ola Lahui Hawai'i."

Senior Troy Andrade was named outstanding student director for the second year in a row. Last year, he shared the award with Alika Young.

The junior class swept the girls' and boys' competitions. The girls sang the "Pa'au'au Waltz" while the boys sang "He 'Ono."

The junior boys also won the Richard Lyman Jr. 'Olelo Makuahine Award for Hawaiian-language performance, and shared the Helen Desha Beamer Award for best musical performance with the sophomore combined class.

Correction: The name of the Richard Lyman Jr. 'Olelo Makuahine Award was incorrect in a previous version of this story.
